Jigawa govt adjusts work hours for civil servants during Ramadan

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has authorized a reduction in working hours for civil servants throughout the 2025 Ramadan fasting period.

The decision was communicated on Tuesday in Dutse, the state capital, through a statement released by Muhammad Dagaceri, the Public Relations Officer of the State Head of Civil Service.

As per the announcement, civil servants will now begin their workday at 9:00 AM and conclude at 3:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, shortening their daily schedule by two hours from the previous 5:00 PM closing time.

On Fridays, employees will work from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, maintaining the regular Friday work schedule.

Dagaceri explained that the adjustment is intended to allow workers ample time to prepare for the daily Ramadan break and participate in religious observances.

He urged civil servants to take advantage of the period for spiritual reflection and to seek divine guidance for the state.

He also stressed the need for prayers for peace and economic development in both Jigawa State and the nation as a whole.

“This initiative ensures that civil servants have sufficient time to fulfil their spiritual responsibilities during Ramadan,” Dagaceri stated, reaffirming the government’s commitment to creating a supportive work environment, particularly during this sacred season.

He encouraged workers to make the most of the revised schedule by focusing on their spiritual growth and spending meaningful time with their families.
