Armed bandits have kidnapped the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dan-Isa Ward, Kauran Namoda, Malam Yakubu Sani, along with three other party executives—Jamilu Usman, Dantahiya Kasa, and Dangandi Marnona.
The attack took place on Saturday, March 1, while the victims were traveling to Talatan Mafara. According to an eyewitness, their vehicle broke down along Mayanchi Road, and the assailants struck as they attempted to fix it.
Attempts to reach the state APC chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, for comments were unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, stated that he was unaware of the incident.
A resident of the area decried the worsening security situation, revealing that more than 200 people remain in captivity, with many kidnapped along the Dansadau-Magami and Magami-Gusau roads.
He lamented that locals have grown weary of paying ransoms, as kidnappers often fail to release their victims even after receiving payments.
“Our people are tired of paying ransom because the bandits cannot be trusted. They have collected ransom in many cases but still refuse to release abductees, and some victims have been killed,” he said.
