A tragic incident unfolded in Bauchi as a 20-year-old man allegedly killed his mother, Salama Abdullahi, following an altercation in the Abujan Kwata area of the metropolis.
According to the police, the young man attacked his 40-year-old mother with a heavy pestle, inflicting severe injuries on her body, including fractures to both hands.
The violent assault reportedly stemmed from a disagreement between the two.
Eyewitnesses and members of the local Peace and Security Committee reported the incident to the police headquarters around 3:00 pm on February 24.
Authorities responded swiftly, with a team of detectives led by Divisional Police Officer CSP Abdullahi Muazu rushing to the scene.
Despite efforts to save her life, Salama Abdullahi was taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel later confirmed her death.
The police have since recovered the pestle used in the attack, while investigations continue under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed.
The suspect is expected to face legal action upon completion of the inquiry.
