FCT Police rescue kidnapped senior officer, launch manhunt for suspects

Security operatives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have successfully rescued Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Modestus Ojiebe, who was abducted by gunmen along the Kubwa Expressway in Abuja.

The development was confirmed on Monday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who stated that Ojiebe had been safely reunited with his family.

According to Adeh, the distress call prompted a swift response from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dawaki Division, who led a patrol team and alerted security personnel at key entry and exit points in the FCT.

This coordinated effort resulted in the officer’s rescue later that night.

Meanwhile, authorities have intensified efforts to capture the culprits, who abandoned Ojiebe and fled into the forest near Garaku in Nasarawa State.

Reports from Zagazola Makama indicate that the incident occurred late Sunday night after the senior officer’s Toyota Corolla developed a mechanical fault near Dei-Dei Barracks.

While he was working on the vehicle, an ash-colored Mercedes-Benz carrying four armed men stopped nearby.

The assailants allegedly searched and robbed Ojiebe and his wife, seizing their mobile phones and ATM cards.

Upon discovering his police identity card, the kidnappers forcibly took him away in their vehicle, leaving his wife and their car at the scene.

In response to the abduction, the FCT Police intensified security operations, carrying out thorough stop-and-search exercises at various strategic locations in a bid to track down the perpetrators.
