Mojisola Meranda has tendered her resignation as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
She announced her decision during a special plenary session on Monday, where she read out her resignation letter, stating, “This serves as a formal notice of my resignation as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.”
Meranda assumed office on January 13, 2025, following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who is reportedly set to reclaim his position.
Despite her brief time in office, lawmakers praised her leadership and efforts in fostering unity within the Assembly.
In addition to her resignation, all principal officers appointed alongside her have also stepped down.
