Zarah Abubakar Shehu, a 21-year-old student of the Federal University Gusau, died in captivity four months after being kidnapped alongside her two siblings in Zamfara State.
Security analyst Zagazola disclosed the incident on his Twitter page, revealing that Zarah was abducted from her home in Damba, Gusau, on November 3, 2024.
“After collecting ₦10 million, the kidnappers still refused to release her, demanding four motorcycles and cartons of engine oil,” he tweeted.
Despite efforts to meet the demands, the abductors later informed the family that Zarah had died and was buried two days earlier.
A family source lamented, “We struggled to raise the money and provide what they wanted, only to hear she had already died. It’s devastating.”
Zarah, the only daughter of her mother, endured four months in captivity before her tragic death, highlighting the worsening insecurity in Nigeria’s northern region.
