Fear grips Ore as gunmen kill popular businessman

Residents of Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, were thrown into panic following the killing of a well-known building materials dealer, Ismaila Awoyinka, by unidentified gunmen.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday night near his home, opposite Caring Heart Mega School in the Idi Mango area.

Eyewitnesses reported that Awoyinka had just finished the Taraweeh prayer, a special voluntary prayer during Ramadan when he was attacked.

“He left the mosque around 8:35 p.m., unaware that some individuals dressed in white were waiting nearby. Just as he was about to enter his house, they emerged, ambushed him, and shot him at close range. He died instantly,” a source disclosed.

Following the incident, a crowd of sympathizers gathered at his residence, mourning his sudden death.

Reacting to the tragic event, the Chairman of Odigbo Local Government, Hon. Taiwo Adegoroye, expressed deep shock and sorrow, describing the killing as a huge loss to the community.

Community leaders also condemned the act, urging residents to be more security-conscious, especially at night.

Meanwhile, security agencies have launched an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
