Fake soldier, armed robbery suspect arrested in Nasarawa

Must read

Police operatives in Keffi, Nasarawa State, have arrested a suspected armed robber who had been impersonating a soldier to carry out criminal activities.

The suspect, identified as Godswill Achili, was apprehended by officers from the Angwan Lambu Division during a surveillance operation.

Achili, who was dressed in full military camouflage at the time of his arrest, reportedly confessed to both impersonation and armed robbery.

Further investigations revealed that he is part of a criminal syndicate that has been operating in Nasarawa State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to police reports, the gang targets unsuspecting individuals, particularly students and young travellers commuting between Keffi, New Karu, and the FCT.

Operating in a black, unregistered Toyota Avalon, they deceive victims into boarding their vehicle under false pretences before robbing them of cash, mobile phones, and other valuables.

Authorities confirmed that at least two other members of the gang are still on the run, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.

The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies to help curb criminal activities in the region.
