Court restrains PDP from enforcing Wabara’s suspension

Justice LTC Eruba of the Abia State High Court has issued an order preventing the enforcement of the suspension of former Senate President and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara.

According to a ruling obtained by Sunday PUNCH, the court directed the leadership of the Abia State PDP, led by Elder Abraham Amah, not to implement the suspension.

Wabara had approached the court under suit number HUK/8/2025, seeking protection from the suspension. Granting his request, the court ruled:

“The defendant is hereby restrained from enforcing the suspension of the claimant/applicant from the Peoples Democratic Party or interfering with his role as Chairman, Board of Trustees of the PDP until the motion on notice is heard and determined.”

Earlier, Amah, a former PDP Vice Chairman (Abia North), had announced Wabara’s suspension in Umuahia, citing allegations of anti-party activities.

Reports suggest that the suspension was linked to Wabara’s public commendation of Governor Alex Otti in October 2023 for his efforts in rehabilitating the long-dilapidated Port Harcourt Road in Aba.

However, the PDP National Working Committee swiftly dismissed the suspension, declaring it unconstitutional and lacking legal validity.
