Coalition urges stronger security measures after Afenifere youth leader’s release

The Coalition of Yoruba Youth Leaders has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen efforts in combating insecurity following the recent abduction and release of Afenifere Youth Council President, Prince Eniola Ojajuni.

Expressing concern over the rising cases of kidnapping across the country, the group emphasized the need for urgent action to prevent more Nigerians from facing similar ordeals.

Ojajuni was abducted by gunmen on February 17 while traveling from Lagos to Abuja. In a distressing video, he was seen pleading for financial assistance after his captors demanded a N100 million ransom.

Reports later surfaced that he was shot in the buttocks while in captivity.

In a report by AFRIPOST confirmed his release, with Ojajuni stating that he was freed in Ibillo, Edo State.

Following his release, the coalition’s National Secretary, Akeem Adeleke, issued a statement expressing relief and calling for improved security measures.

“With profound relief and gratitude, the Coalition of Yoruba Youth Leaders celebrates the safe return of our respected compatriot, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, from captivity,” the statement read.

“This unfortunate incident highlights the worsening security situation in the country and reinforces the urgent need for decisive action against kidnapping. We call on the authorities to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and ensure that families, communities, and organizations no longer suffer such traumatic experiences.”

The coalition also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and united in the fight for justice and security.

Meanwhile, Adeleke confirmed that Ojajuni was receiving urgent medical attention, commending his resilience and describing it as a reflection of the unwavering spirit of the Yoruba people.
