Beyoncé was supposed to feature in Kcee’s Limpopo – Soso Soberekon

Must read

Celebrity Nigerian music executive, Soso Soberekon has noted that Grammy-winning artiste Beyoncé was initially supposed to feature in the hit song Limpopo.

Released in 2013 by music star, KCee, Limpopo became an instant sensation, solidifying his status as one of the country’s biggest stars.

However, according to Soberekon, the song was originally intended to include a collaboration with Beyoncé.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Soberekon disclosed, “Limpopo was supposed to be a song Kcee featuring Beyoncé. There was a billionaire who wanted to bring Beyoncé to Nigeria. He does not know anything about entertainment, so he asked us to follow him to New York, that we were going to do a song with Beyoncé after negotiation. We then went to Jay-Z’s club looking for information on getting Beyoncé’s contact. We now finally got an agent to discuss the Beyoncé deal.

“The deal is she would come to Nigeria to do a concert, meet and greet, and do a song with a Nigerian artiste called Kcee. So they said they will get back to us.”

He went on to explain how the plan led to the song’s recording, “So, we came back, and the man asked us to do a song that will feature Beyoncé. So in the hope of doing a song with Beyoncé, that is how we recorded the song thinking Beyoncé will be on the song. So it was fluke, not knowing that we knew it was going to be a hit.”

However, the collaboration ultimately did not materialise as Soberekon recounted the moment they received the disappointing news.

“So, then the agent now called us to break our heart, informing us that Beyoncé will not sleep in Nigeria but in Ghana. We could not meet her in Ghana, because the main deal is for her to come to Nigeria for a show, the song feature was just a promise. The next thing we released the song and it was a hit.”
