Sexual harassment: I have concrete evidence against your husband – Natasha responds to Akpabio’s wife

Must read

Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has reiterated her sexual harassment allegation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, stating that she possesses substantial evidence to support her claims.

Speaking through her legal representative, Victor Giwa, Akpoti-Uduaghan responded to comments made by Akpabio’s wife, Unoma, who had defended her husband’s integrity and hinted at possible legal action against the senator.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Giwa advised Mrs. Akpabio to refrain from getting involved in the dispute, emphasizing that the Senate President is capable of addressing the accusations personally.

He stated, “For the sake of your well-being and that of your family, it would be best to allow the Senate President to handle his own defence.”

Giwa further highlighted that his client is a well-known advocate for human and women’s rights in Nigeria and remains committed to defending women’s interests.

“Our client does not wish to involve you in this unfortunate situation surrounding her allegations against the Senate President. She urges you to distance yourself from the matter,” Giwa added.

He asserted that while Akpoti-Uduaghan had endured previous harassment, she felt compelled to publicly disclose the distress and victimization she had faced within the Senate chambers under Akpabio’s leadership.

“The allegations are directed specifically at the Senate President, and our client trusts that he can personally respond to them,” the lawyer continued.

“As a strong advocate for Nigerian women and family values, she remains steadfast in her commitment to justice.”

The controversy follows a lawsuit filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan against Akpabio and his aide, Mfon Patrick, in which she is demanding N100.3 billion for defamation.

The legal battle stems from allegations that the Senate President deliberately ignored her motion on the Ajaokuta Steel Complex after she rejected his alleged sexual advances.

The senator, currently suspended and facing the Senate Ethics Committee, had earlier made the claims during a televised interview, further intensifying the dispute within the legislative chamber.
