Ibadan woman arraigned for alleged possession of human skull

A 44-year-old woman, Kadijat Kazeem, was brought before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday over allegations of unlawful possession of a human skull.

The police charged her with conspiracy, illegal possession, and tampering with a corpse.

According to police prosecutor CPL Helen Ojo, Kazeem allegedly conspired with others, who are still at large, to commit the offence. She was accused of unlawfully exhuming a human skull from a grave without authorization.

The discovery was made when officers searched her home following the arrest of her son for theft. During the operation, her husband reportedly fled, leaving her to face the charges.

The incident was said to have occurred on February 10 at about 10:20 a.m. in the Jenriyin area of Akobo, Ibadan.

Kazeem pleaded not guilty to the charges. The presiding magistrate, M. M. Olagbenro, granted her bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in the same amount. The case was adjourned until April 17 for further hearing.
