Retired General Maharazu Tsiga, a former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), remains in captivity 23 days after being abducted by armed bandits in Katsina State.
Tsiga was taken along with nine others from his home in Tsiga town, Bakori Local Government Area. Initially, his captors demanded a ransom of N250 million for his release. However, recent reports suggest that another group has taken custody of him after a settlement with the original kidnappers, increasing the ransom demand to N500 million.
“They originally asked for N250 million, but another group took over after negotiations with the first gang. The new captors are now demanding N500 million,” a source revealed.
A family member confirmed that Tsiga is still alive and that the family remains in contact with his abductors while efforts continue to secure his safe return.
“He hasn’t been released yet, but we are in communication with those holding him. We remain hopeful for a positive outcome,” the source stated.
Another individual familiar with the situation mentioned that his release was expected sooner, but unforeseen challenges have delayed the process.
