After spending 22 days in the custody of his abductors, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maharazu Tsiga, has regained his freedom.
AFRIPOST gathered that Tsiga was released on Friday night.
Meanwhile, the former DG is currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital for security reasons.
Also, security analyst Zagazola, residing in the Northern part, who is familiar with insecurity, terrorism, and banditry across the northern states, confirmed that the ex-NYSC DG has also been released.
He confirmed his release on his X (Twitter) page. He wrote, “Reliable sources have confirmed that Tsiga has regained his freedom and is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
“Details regarding the circumstances of his release remain undisclosed”, part of his statement revealed.
The kidnappers, led by the notorious bandit leader Babaro, had initially demanded a ransom of N250 million for his release.
However, it remains unclear whether any payment was made to secure his freedom.
As of now, government officials and security agencies, including the Katsina State Police Command, have yet to issue any statements regarding his release.
AFRIPOST had reported that Tsiga was abducted on February 6, 2025, when an unknown number of bandits stormed his residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.
During the attack, two individuals sustained injuries, while one of the gunmen was accidentally shot dead by a fellow gang member.
