An 18-year-old woman, Rukayat Ashiru, appeared before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court on Friday, facing charges of conspiracy and theft after allegedly stealing N4 million from her boyfriend.
The prosecution, led by PC Olapeju Durodola, informed the court that Ashiru, along with accomplices who are still at large, committed the crime on November 30, 2024, at Mufu Lanihun, Yidi Agugu, in Ibadan.
According to Durodola, the defendant allegedly spiked her boyfriend Waris Olamilekan’s drink, rendering him unconscious before making away with the cash.
The alleged offences violate Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Oyo State Criminal Code, 2000.
Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted Ashiru bail in the sum of N2 million, requiring two sureties of equal value.
One surety must own property within the court’s jurisdiction, while the other must be a blood relative of the defendant.
The case has been adjourned until May 26 for further hearing.
