The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 19 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud at various locations in Benin City, Edo State.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrests in a statement on Thursday, stating that they were based on credible intelligence linking the suspects to online fraudulent activities.
Among the items recovered during the operation were seven luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones.
Oyewale further noted that the suspects had provided useful information and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
