2027: El-Rufai can’t determine 2027 election – Mamman

Must read

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has asserted that former Governor Nasir El-Rufai has no authority to determine the political landscape in 2027, stating that only God holds that power.

Speaking to journalists, Mamman Lagos criticized El-Rufai’s remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

He cautioned the former governor to stay away from Kaduna politics, emphasizing that the people and divine will—not an individual—will determine the outcome of the 2027 governorship and presidential elections.

His comments came as 255 councilors from across Kaduna State publicly declared their support for President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani’s re-election bids.

Setting the record straight, Mamman Lagos praised Governor Sani’s leadership, stating that he has focused on governance without interfering in past administrations.

He highlighted the governor’s efforts to reverse unpopular policies from the previous government, including reducing high tuition fees, reinstating deposed traditional rulers, and returning confiscated properties to their rightful owners.

He also lauded Sani’s commitment to infrastructural development across all three senatorial zones, countering the perception that the All Progressives Congress (APC) favors only certain groups.

Mamman Lagos warned against political threats, stressing that no individual holds the key to electoral success. He urged political actors to allow the electorate to decide their leaders based on their track record and commitment to the people.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the 255 councilors, Muhammad Sani Badiko declared that both the Presidential Villa in Abuja and the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna will have no vacancy in 2027.

He commended Governor Sani’s achievements, particularly in rural development, economic recovery, education, and healthcare.

He further pledged to mobilize grassroots support for the governor’s re-election, urging political actors to set aside their ambitions until after 2031.
