Two officers killed as Police arrest four in foiled kidnap attempt in Jos

Two police officers on special duty in Jos, Plateau State, lost their lives during a gun battle with suspected kidnappers.

The incident occurred in the Little Rayfield area of Jos South Local Government Area, where security operatives engaged the suspects in a shootout while attempting to thwart a kidnapping operation.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, confirmed the arrests of four individuals linked to the failed abduction.

“Four suspected kidnappers have been apprehended in connection with the foiled kidnap attempt along Little Rayfield Road, Jos. Unfortunately, two of our officers from the Force Investigation Department, Abuja, attached to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), lost their lives during the exchange of gunfire,” Alabo stated.

He added that an investigation is ongoing, and further details will be communicated in due course.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, has presented cheques worth over N20 million to the families of some fallen officers.

Adesina, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Aliko Dankolo, urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to support their families and honor the sacrifices of the deceased officers.
