Senator Natasha demands live broadcast of Senate probe

Must read

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has insisted that her ongoing probe by the Senate’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee be aired live, asserting that Nigerians have the right to witness the proceedings.

The senator, who was referred to the committee following a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over a seating arrangement, stated that while she is prepared to appear before the panel, she will not accept a closed-door hearing.

In a statement shared on her Facebook page on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan revealed that she had previously chosen to remain silent about the issue and other events in the Senate but had now decided to speak out.

She encouraged Nigerians to pay close attention to the process, stressing her commitment to ensuring full transparency.

“The petition against me just came to my attention a few hours ago,” she wrote.

“While I have kept quiet about several matters under Senate President Akpabio, it is time to break my silence.

“Arise News set a date—I will appear in your studio and answer all questions without reservation.

“To Nigerians, I urge you to follow the proceedings. I will insist that the probe be broadcast live.

“The coming days and weeks will be crucial, shaping the standard and quality of Nigeria’s leadership.”
