The Enugu State Police Command has taken down an armed robbery suspect and apprehended a car theft suspect in separate security operations.

This was revealed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, on Thursday.

According to Ndukwe, officers from the 9th Mile Police Division successfully repelled an armed robbery attempt along Owa Road, 9th Mile, neutralizing one of the suspects while others managed to escape.

During the operation, police recovered a cut-to-size double-barreled gun, three live cartridges, and other incriminating items.

In another development, operatives from the Igbo-Etiti Division arrested 23-year-old Sunday Ejiofor and recovered a stolen blue Toyota Corolla from him.

The suspect admitted to stealing the vehicle from a compound in Orba, Udenu Local Government Area.

Following an investigation by the Udenu Police Division, Ejiofor was arraigned in court and has been remanded at the Correctional Custodial Centre.

Additionally, officers from the New Haven Division recovered another Toyota Corolla, which had been reported stolen from Igbo Eze Street, Independence Layout, Enugu.

The thieves abandoned the vehicle and fled upon spotting the police in pursuit.

The recovered car has since been returned to its rightful owner.

Ndukwe further stated that Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime and urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement efforts.
