The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has authorized four banks to facilitate and manage the Hajj Savings Scheme, marking a significant development in the initiative.
In a statement released on late Tuesday, NAHCON spokesperson Abdulbasit Abba confirmed the inclusion of three new Islamic banks—Taj Bank, Alternative Bank, and Lotus Bank—into the scheme.
These institutions will work alongside Ja’iz Bank, bringing the total number of participating banks to four.
The official signing ceremony took place at Hajj House in Abuja, where representatives from the newly selected banks received their appointment letters from NAHCON.
The commissioner for policy, personnel, management, and finance, Abdullazak Aliu, presented the letters on behalf of NAHCON’s Chief Executive Officer, Abdullahi Usman.
According to NAHCON, this expansion strengthens the financial framework of the Hajj Savings Scheme, ensuring improved support for Nigerian Muslims preparing for pilgrimage.
