Residents of Tafoki Village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State have reportedly killed three wounded bandits following a failed assault on their community, the police have confirmed.
The incident occurred after an attack on February 25, when heavily armed bandits, riding on about 100 motorcycles, stormed the village.
However, their assault was thwarted by a combined team of security forces, who engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
During the confrontation, several of the attackers sustained injuries before retreating into the forest.
According to local sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, three of the injured bandits were later discovered by villagers on the morning of February 26.
The residents apprehended them and subsequently killed them.
Security operatives have been informed of the situation, and efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing bandits.
