The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the official notice for the Area Council elections scheduled to take place in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
According to the notice, which was made public on Wednesday, the election will be conducted across the six Area Councils of the FCT, with voting set to commence at 8:30 a.m. at all designated polling units.
INEC emphasized that only registered voters whose names appear on the official register and possess valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be permitted to cast their ballots.
The commission also confirmed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be deployed for voter verification, reinforcing the “No PVC, No Voting” policy.
The electoral body urged eligible voters to ensure they participate in the process by voting at their assigned polling units.
