DSS arrests PDP chieftain Austin Okai amid allegations of political intimidation

The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken Austin Okai, a political activist from Kogi State and a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), into custody.

AFRIPOST gathered that that his arrest was allegedly carried out on the orders of Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.

In a video seen by AFRIPOST, heavily armed security personnel apprehended Okai at his residence in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Wednesday morning.

Although the DSS has yet to officially disclose the reason for his detention, sources believe it may be connected to his outspoken criticism of the Kogi State government.

Okai has been a vocal opposition figure, frequently challenging the administration’s policies and governance.

As of the time of this report, the DSS has not issued any official statement regarding his arrest.

Meanwhile, speaking to SaharaReporters, Okai’s wife expressed concerns over the manner of his arrest, stating that the security operatives did not present an arrest warrant.

“They stormed our Abuja residence and forcefully entered without a warrant. I repeatedly asked for one, but none of them could provide it,” she said.

She questioned the legality of the arrest, adding, “If they needed him for questioning, did they invite him, and did he refuse? Where is the warrant?”

She further disclosed that the operatives confiscated his electronic devices and voiced fears over the treatment he might be facing in custody.
