The Federal High Court in Abakaliki has upheld the expulsion of Ali Odefa, a former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the South-East region.
Odefa was suspended by the PDP executive committee in his ward, Oguduokwor, Oshiri Community in Onicha Local Government Area, on October 4, 2024, over allegations of anti-party activities.
Despite the suspension, he continued to operate in his position, prompting the ward executive to take legal action.
Delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice Hilary Oshomah ruled in favor of the ward executive committee, granting all their requests and affirming Odefa’s expulsion from the party.
The case was brought to court by Moses Idika, Herbert Ovuta, Emmanuel Uzor, and Uzoamaka Ude on behalf of the ward executive, with Odefa, the PDP, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) listed as defendants.
Justice Oshomah declared that Odefa was lawfully expelled and ordered that he should no longer function as PDP’s National Vice Chairman for the South-East.
He further directed the party to prevent him from accessing or representing the office in any official capacity.
