Tinubu to preside over APC national caucus meeting today

President Bola Tinubu is set to chair the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Caucus meeting today at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the party has confirmed.

APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, disclosed this in an exclusive interview, assuring that Tinubu has confirmed his attendance.

“By the grace of God, the President will be there. He has already confirmed his attendance,” Basiru stated.

He also dismissed speculations that the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, scheduled for today and tomorrow, might be postponed.

“No, nobody is postponing anything. The National Caucus and NEC meetings will still be held on Tuesday and Wednesday as scheduled,” he assured.

Last year, both meetings were initially planned for September 11 and 12 but were postponed indefinitely without an official explanation. At the time, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, assured that new dates would be announced later.

After months of uncertainty, concerns arose over when the ruling party would reschedule the NEC meeting. However, party officials repeatedly responded that it would be held “very soon” without specifying a date.

A leaked memo signed by Basiru has now confirmed that the National Caucus meeting will take place today at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, while the NEC meeting will be held at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja tomorrow.

The memo read: “Distinguished colleagues, kindly circulate the following to all party stakeholders in the states: The National Caucus of the party is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa by 6 pm.

“The National Executive Committee is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, at the National Secretariat of the Party. Best regards.”

Both meetings, which will be chaired by President Tinubu, are expected to have Vice President Kashim Shettima and former President Muhammadu Buhari in attendance.

Also expected are APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Senate President Dr. Godswill Akpabio, his predecessor, past and present APC governors, former and serving Speakers of the House of Representatives, state party chairmen, members of the National Working Committee, and other key stakeholders.

Notably, this will be Ganduje’s first NEC and Caucus meeting since assuming office as APC National Chairman.
