JAMB rules out UTME registration extension, confirms March 8 deadline

Must read

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed that registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will officially close on March 8, 2025, with no plans for an extension.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin emphasized that the deadline had been widely publicized in advertisements and the official UTME calendar.

“We wish to inform all prospective candidates that there will be no extension of the registration period,” the statement read.

JAMB also disclosed that over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered, aligning with the board’s expectations for the 2025 examination cycle.

The board urged applicants to complete their registration without delay, warning against last-minute rushes.

“The recent decline in daily registrations is concerning, and we encourage all interested candidates to register as soon as possible,” the statement added.

JAMB further explained that its schedule is fixed, with several post-registration activities such as the examination, result processing, and admissions exercise already planned.

Any extension, it noted, would disrupt not only its operations but also those of partner agencies that rely on its processes.

Candidates are therefore advised to adhere strictly to the registration timeline to ensure smooth participation in the 2025 UTME.
