Three Lagos Assembly workers arrested for alleged assault on DSS officers

The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended three employees of the Lagos State House of Assembly for allegedly attacking its operatives on February 18.

The incident reportedly took place at the assembly complex during a confrontation involving some individuals and DSS personnel.

In a letter dated February 14, 2025, and signed by the acting clerk, A.T.B. Ottun, the Lagos Assembly had invited the DSS to enhance security within the premises.

The directive, referenced as LSHA/FAD/0/7554/323, instructed the DSS to enforce strict access control from February 15 until further notice.

However, a DSS source claimed that some of its officers stationed at the assembly were assaulted. After reviewing CCTV footage of the incident, three individuals were identified and subsequently arrested.

The suspects—photographer Ibrahim Olanrewaju Abdulkareem, along with Adetu Adekunle Samsudeen and Adetola Oluwatosin Fatimoh, both attached to the Assembly’s Sergeant-at-Arms—were tracked and taken into custody at various locations in Lagos.

According to the source, the suspects will soon face legal action.

Meanwhile, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, confirmed their arrest and stated that they had been released on bail.
