We go use Amotekun – Davido replies police, advises Osun residents to vote

Nigerian Music star, Davido has maintained that the Osun state chapter of the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun will provide security for today’s LG election in the state.

This is coming after the Nigeria Police Force advised the Osun State Government to suspend the planned Local Government elections, citing credible intelligence of potential violence and security threats.

However, Davido, who doubles as a nephew of the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has responded to the advice, stating that the state will seek alternative security if the Nigeria Police fails to provide necessary security.

The NPF’s Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi had issued a statement warning of potential unrest and violence, posing a serious risk to public safety.

The police further urged political stakeholders to exercise restraint and prioritize public safety during this period.

Davido reacted to the development in a tweet, retweeting the NPF statement and writing,
, “We go use Amotekun.”

Recall that the Federal Government through the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, has also weighed in on the matter, advising Governor Ademola Adeleke to suspend the elections, citing a court judgment that reinstated the APC chairmen in the state.
