The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast hazy and sunny weather conditions across various parts of the country from Saturday to Monday.

In a weather update released on Friday in Abuja, the agency indicated that the northern region would experience clear skies with hazy conditions, while some parts of the central and southern regions could witness localized thunderstorms.

For Saturday, the forecast suggests hazy skies in the North, while the North-Central region will have sunny conditions with scattered clouds. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected in areas such as Kwara and Kogi. In the South, cloudy skies with intermittent sunshine are anticipated, with morning thunderstorms likely in Lagos, Edo, and Delta.

Thunderstorms may also develop in the afternoon and evening across states including Ondo, Ogun, Edo, and Ebonyi.

On Sunday, the northern region is expected to remain hazy with sunshine, while the North-Central will see a mix of clear skies and cloud cover. Thunderstorms are likely to develop in parts of Nasarawa, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory later in the day. In the South, morning conditions will be mostly cloudy, followed by thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

By Monday, the North is predicted to maintain its hazy and sunny weather, while the North-Central region will have a blend of sunshine and clouds.

Thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon and evening over parts of Kogi and Benue.

In the South, cloudy skies with sunshine are expected in the morning, while localized thunderstorms are likely later in the day in states such as Lagos, Delta, and Cross River.

NiMet has urged residents to take necessary precautions due to lingering dust particles in the air. Individuals with respiratory conditions, such as asthma, are advised to be cautious.

The agency also warned that thunderstorms could be accompanied by strong winds, advising the public to adhere to safety guidelines. Furthermore, airline operators have been encouraged to seek NiMet’s weather updates for safe flight planning.

Residents are advised to stay informed through the agency’s official website for further updates.
