Manchester United stages dramatic comeback to draw with Everton

Must read

In a thrilling Premier League encounter at Goodison Park, Manchester United overcame a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Everton.

The home side took an early lead in the 19th minute when Beto capitalized on a loose ball in the box, firing into the ground and past Andre Onana.

Abdoulaye Doucouré doubled Everton’s advantage in the 33rd minute, heading in a rebound after Onana parried Jack Harrison’s initial shot.

Manchester United struggled in the first half, showing little attacking intent and defensive frailties.

However, the introduction of Alejandro Garnacho in the second half injected much-needed energy into the team.

In the 72nd minute, captain Bruno Fernandes reduced the deficit with a precise free-kick that left Jordan Pickford rooted to the spot.

Eight minutes later, Manuel Ugarte netted his first goal for the club, volleying home from the edge of the area after Everton failed to clear another Fernandes set-piece.

The match reached a controversial climax in stoppage time when referee Andrew Madley awarded Everton a penalty after Ashley Young went down under pressure from Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire.

However, following a VAR review, the decision was overturned, ensuring both teams shared the spoils.

This result leaves Manchester United in 15th place in the Premier League standings.
