Notorious arms supplier to terrorists arrested in Sokoto

Must read

Security forces in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State have arrested a notorious arms dealer, Hamza Suruddubu, who is accused of supplying weapons to terrorist groups operating in the region.

According to intelligence sources cited by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X, Suruddubu, a firearms trafficker from Eastern Sokoto, played a crucial role in transporting weapons from Zamfara State to terrorist hideouts in Eastern Sokoto.

He is suspected of being a major supplier of arms to well-known bandit leaders, including Bello Turji, Boka, and Halilu Buzu.

Investigations indicate that Suruddubu’s activities extended beyond arms trafficking.

He was allegedly responsible for supplying essential logistics, including food and motorcycles, to criminal groups operating in the area.

Additionally, intelligence reports suggest that some security operatives in Shinkafi and Isa local government areas may have been complicit in the illegal arms trade, raising concerns about corruption within the security apparatus.

Community leaders and security stakeholders have urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a comprehensive probe into Suruddubu’s network.

They also called for efforts to uncover the full scale of arms smuggling operations between Isa and Sabon Birni.
