COAS issues 30-day deadline for Bello Turji’s capture

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has given troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadarin Daji, a 30-day ultimatum to apprehend notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, dead or alive.

During his visit to Zamfara State on Thursday, Oluyede delivered the directive while addressing soldiers at the 1 Brigade Headquarters in Gusau.

He stressed the urgency of eliminating the threat posed by Turji, whose criminal activities have fueled violence across Zamfara, Sokoto, and parts of Kebbi State.

“I do not want to hear about Turji’s continued attacks in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi. He must be captured within 30 days, along with his associates, no matter where they are hiding,” Oluyede commanded.

Reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s dedication to the welfare of its personnel, the COAS unveiled a new housing scheme designed to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for soldiers before they retire.

“We have introduced an owner-occupier housing scheme to ensure that our troops have decent homes by the time they leave service,” he explained.

Oluyede also assured the soldiers that the army would provide necessary logistical and operational support to enhance their fight against banditry and terrorism in the Northwest region.
