FCT pilgrims board set date to begin Hajj travel kit distribution

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board is set to begin the distribution of travel materials to prospective Hajj pilgrims on Saturday.

This will take place during the second phase of the board’s education and orientation program in Abuja.

According to the board, the event will be held at the permanent Hajj camp in Bassan Jiwa, near the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, spanning Saturday and Sunday.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the board’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Lawal, confirmed that all necessary travel materials had been secured to help pilgrims adequately prepare for their spiritual journey.

Among the items to be distributed are uniforms, instructional books, and audio materials designed to help the pilgrims continue learning about Hajj rites throughout the Islamic month of Ramadan.

Lawal further explained that all orientation activities would be paused during Ramadan, allowing participants to fully engage in religious observances.

The preparations will resume after the fasting period to ensure a smooth and well-organized pilgrimage.

He emphasized the board’s commitment to equipping intending pilgrims with the essential knowledge of Hajj to ensure they get value for their financial investment in the religious journey.

“As is customary, this weekend’s second phase of orientation will be conducted in seven languages by Islamic scholars to accommodate the diverse linguistic backgrounds of FCT pilgrims. Sessions will commence at 8 a.m. daily,” Lawal stated.

He added that the orientation program, structured in phases, would provide comprehensive guidance on Hajj rituals and updates on the latest policies introduced by the Saudi authorities and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Lawal also urged intending pilgrims who had not yet submitted their completed application forms or international passports to do so promptly.

This, he said, would facilitate the processing of their travel documents ahead of their departure to Saudi Arabia.
