Three suspected kidnappers were captured by vigilant residents in Victory Estate, Ago Palace, Lagos, after a failed attempt to abduct a victim.
Footage of the incident, which has circulated widely on social media, shows the suspects confessing to their crimes while being questioned by their captors.
The suspects, identified as Ifeanyi, Chimezie Emmanuel (also known as “Davido”), and Sodiq, were apprehended by locals who later recorded their confessions.
In the video, they admitted to being involved in the kidnapping scheme, with two of them accusing Emmanuel of orchestrating the plan.
Ifeanyi, who hails from Anambra State, openly admitted, “My name is Ifeanyi. I am from Anambra. I came from Ijesha. I came here to kidnap.”
Chimezie Emmanuel, also known as “Davido,” stated, “My name is Chimezie Emmanuel. I live at Community Bus Stop. I am from Imo State. I also came here to kidnap.”
Sodiq, the third suspect, disclosed, “My name is Sodiq. I am from Kwara State. I live in Surulere.”
During the interrogation, both Ifeanyi and Sodiq pointed fingers at Emmanuel, claiming he was the one who recruited them for the operation.
The video also captured residents aggressively questioning the suspects, with some resorting to physical assault.
Notably, some community members hinted at the possibility of releasing the suspects without police involvement, raising concerns over the growing trend of vigilante justice.
Authorities have urged residents of Victory Estate and nearby communities to remain watchful and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
