Nigerian Army troops have intensified their fight against insurgency, eliminating 10 Boko Haram fighters and seizing automatic weapons during a strategic raid on a terrorist hideout.
The operation also led to the arrest of a key collaborator known for collecting ransom payments on behalf of terrorist and bandit groups.
On February 17, 2025, troops launched an offensive in Iza forest, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, a known Boko Haram stronghold.
Overwhelmed by superior firepower, 10 terrorists were neutralized, while others escaped.
A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and loaded magazines.
In a separate mission in Zamfara’s Shinkafi Local Government Area, troops ambushed bandits at a crossing point in Tunfa village, eliminating one suspect and capturing a high-profile ransom facilitator linked to the Sani Black faction.
His confession led to a raid in Tunga village, where multiple suspects were arrested and bandit hideouts destroyed.
Additionally, in Sokoto’s Illela Local Government Area, security forces, acting on intelligence, apprehended a suspected terrorist at Illela Market.
Praising the troops for their resilience, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, reiterated the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and urged citizens to support security efforts by providing credible intelligence.
