Mojisola Meranda, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has denied reports suggesting that she has stepped down from her position.
Her Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, addressed the speculation on Wednesday, stating, “I’m in the office. The Speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from,” during a conversation with PUNCH Online.
Earlier, an unverified online report claimed that Meranda had resigned, with a letter dated February 17, 2025, circulating on social media. However, a review of the document showed it lacked an official signature.
The Lagos Assembly has been facing leadership tensions following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa by a majority of lawmakers.
