Jamaica seeks 400 Nigerian professionals – NTAC DG

The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) has announced that Jamaica is looking to recruit 400 Nigerian professionals, offering full salary packages to help address its workforce shortages.

NTAC Director-General, Yusuf Yakub, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja during the deployment ceremony of 16 volunteers to the Republic of Benin and Rwanda.

He emphasized that this initiative aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to supporting African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) nations while strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties.

Yakub highlighted that the move also aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on democracy, development, demographic advantage, and diaspora engagement.

“We ensure that the president’s mandate is implemented whenever these countries seek Nigeria’s support in filling professional and educational gaps,” he said. “Moving forward, NTAC will not only send volunteers for humanitarian purposes but will also facilitate employment opportunities for Nigerian professionals in countries willing to pay for their expertise in a structured and dignified manner.”

The NTAC boss noted that the organization is evolving into a revenue-generating agency, describing this as a significant milestone.

Jafaru Usman, an engineer from the University of Maiduguri and leader of the newly deployed volunteer group, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.

He commended NTAC for enabling him and his colleagues to contribute their skills for the benefit of others.

Established in 1987, NTAC has deployed over 10,000 volunteers to ACP nations and various international institutions, fulfilling its mandate of technical assistance and cooperation.
