The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare and overall well-being of Nigerian Army personnel.
During a working tour of the 26 Brigade in Dutse on Tuesday, General Oluyede assured troops that their needs would remain a top priority under his leadership.
He emphasized his “soldiers first” policy, aimed at boosting morale and enhancing their standard of living.
One of the key initiatives he highlighted was the ongoing effort to increase the Ration Cash Allowance (RCA), ensuring better feeding conditions for soldiers regardless of their deployment location.
“We are working to improve the RCA to enhance your feeding and overall welfare. The Army is dedicated to taking care of every soldier, no matter where they serve,” he stated.
Additionally, General Oluyede urged soldiers to take advantage of the Affordable Housing Ownership Options for All Soldiers (AHOOAS) and other financial empowerment programs designed to support them and their families.
He revealed that over 400 personnel, including those injured in combat, had already benefitted from the housing scheme.
He also encouraged troops to maintain physical and professional readiness through rigorous training while upholding discipline and adherence to the law.
Commending the soldiers for their dedication to securing their area of responsibility, the COAS inspected newly completed infrastructure and ongoing projects and commissioned the Brigade’s new Obstacle Course.
Earlier, Brigadier General Joseph Mackintosh, Commander of the 26 Brigade, briefed General Oluyede on the security challenges within the brigade’s jurisdiction.
He reassured the COAS of the troops’ unwavering commitment to maintaining safety and stability in the region.
