Gunmen believed to be kidnappers have killed the son of a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) minister and abducted his wife in Mararaba, a community in Nasarawa State bordering Abuja.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday last week when armed assailants stormed the home of Pastor Austin Ifeji, inflicting severe machete wounds on him.
He managed to escape, but the attackers seized his wife.
In a tragic turn, the couple’s son was shot while attempting to protect his mother.
The assailants also inflicted more machete wounds on him in the presence of his siblings before taking his mother away.
A neighbour, who spoke anonymously to journalists on Tuesday, revealed that the kidnappers later demanded a ₦30 million ransom for the pastor’s wife.
Her whereabouts remain unclear at the time of this report.
Meanwhile, SP Rahman Nansel, spokesperson for the Nasarawa State Police Command, stated that the authorities were unaware of the incident.
