Bandits kidnap teaching hospital staff, three others in Yola

Panic engulfed Mayokila Village in Mapeo District, Jada LGA Adamawa, as armed bandits invaded the community in the early hours of Tuesday.

The bandits kidnapped four people, including a staff member of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola.

The victim, identified as Abubakar Sadiq Umar (a.k.a. Haske), and three others were forcefully taken away after the attackers fired sporadically to instil fear among residents.

The incident, which occurred around 1:30 a.m., has left families in distress as they await news of their loved ones.

Confirming the attack, the Adamawa State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police (CP) Dankombo Morris, strongly condemned the criminal act and ordered an immediate manhunt to track down the perpetrators.

In response to a distress call received at 3:30 a.m., tactical teams were deployed to augment security efforts in the area, particularly around the Kojoli Division, as part of an intensified search-and-rescue operation.

The police have assured the public of their commitment to securing the release of the victims, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements.
