Six students killed as truck crashes into university shuttle in Kogi

Must read

A fatal road accident in Kogi State on Monday afternoon resulted in the deaths of six students from the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) and their shuttle bus driver following a collision with an articulated truck.

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. when a truck transporting wood and jerrycans of palm oil toward Abuja lost control and crashed into the university’s shuttle bus, which was filled with students.

“The bus, which was about to take students to school, was completely crushed by the truck,” a witness recounted.

Officials from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) arrived swiftly at the scene to rescue trapped victims.

However, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Samuel Oyedeji, stated that the exact number of casualties could not be confirmed immediately.

Authorities have since transferred the bodies of the deceased to a morgue for identification, while the injured were taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, and the Kogi State Specialist Hospital for urgent medical care.
