My brother, Wike trying to destroy PDP – Fayose

Must read

Isaac Fayose has accused his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of deliberately working to weaken the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking on the Mic On Podcast with journalist Seun Okinbaloye, Isaac expressed his frustration, revealing that his relationship with Ayodele Fayose has become so strained that they no longer communicate and have even blocked each other.

“My brother and Wike are trying to destroy the PDP—the same party that gave them political prominence. How do they expect others to grow within the party if they are actively working against it? I consider that betrayal, and it is why I have chosen to distance myself from Ayodele Fayose,” he stated.

The PDP has been grappling with internal conflicts, which intensified before the 2023 presidential election.

Wike led a faction of PDP governors, known as the G5 Governors, in opposing the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar. The group—including Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia)—insisted that the party’s leadership was unfairly dominated by the North and demanded the resignation of then-party chairman Iyorchia Ayu. When their demands were ignored, they refused to back Atiku’s candidacy, significantly weakening the party’s chances in the election.

Since then, the PDP’s internal crisis has worsened.

Wike’s decision to accept a ministerial appointment under President Bola Tinubu’s APC-led government has raised suspicions about his loyalty, with many seeing it as a clear act of betrayal.

Similarly, Ayodele Fayose has faced criticism for allegedly undermining the PDP. His previous public support for Tinubu’s presidency has only fueled speculation that he is no longer committed to the party’s success.
