2027 Presidency: Big lie from pit of hell – ZLP denies endorsing Peter Obi

Must read

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has dismissed reports suggesting that it has endorsed Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, describing the claims as “a big lie from the pit of hell.”

In a statement released on Sunday night in Abuja, ZLP’s National Publicity Secretary, Khalid Arewa, clarified that the party had not made any such decision, calling the reports false and baseless.

The statement was in response to widespread speculation that the party had offered Obi a free ticket to contest in the next election.

Peter Obi, who ran for president under the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, gained strong support from young Nigerians and finished as the second runner-up, while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured victory.

Recently, there has been speculation that Obi is working on forming alliances with other opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, the ZLP firmly distanced itself from any such discussions, emphasizing that it had not engaged in talks or made any agreements concerning the next election cycle.

The party condemned the misleading reports, stating that they were spread through an unknown social media handle unaffiliated with the party.

“We categorically deny this claim in its entirety and affirm that the statement does not reflect the views, decisions, or position of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP),” the statement read.

The party further warned that it would take action against those spreading false information, vowing to identify and report them to security agencies.

Reaffirming its commitment to democracy, good governance, and national development, the ZLP urged the public to disregard the false reports and rely only on official statements issued through its verified communication channels.
