APC offers nothing to Nigerians, we’ll remove them in 2027 – Ex-Sokoto Governor

Must read

Former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has dismissed the wave of defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North West, describing them as moves driven by personal interests rather than the welfare of the people.

Speaking with journalists after the inaugural Zonal Executive Council Meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Northwest in Kaduna on Saturday, Tambuwal criticized politicians crossing over to the ruling party, arguing that their decisions were fueled by self-interest rather than a commitment to public service.

“People switch parties for various reasons, but what I’ve observed is that these defections are not about the people’s interest—they’re about personal gains, what I call ‘stomach infrastructure,’” he said.

He also took a swipe at the APC-led federal government, accusing it of lacking vision, empathy, and direction. According to him, any politician genuinely concerned about the country’s future would not associate with the APC, given the economic hardships and perceived failures of the Tinubu administration.

“There’s nothing attractive about the APC beyond personal benefits. Those of us committed to this country and true public service must come together to ensure that by 2027, we remove this administration that has failed Nigerians,” he declared.

Meanwhile, the PDP Northwest reaffirmed its determination to reclaim power in the next election, stressing the need for unity and strategic mobilization. A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, read by PDP Northwest Chairman, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, emphasized the party’s resolve to return to power in 2027.
