Rivers: Man fatally stabs friend over missing phone

The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended a man identified as Michael for allegedly stabbing his friend, Uchenna, to death during a dispute over a missing phone.

The altercation took place on Wednesday along Egede Street in the Mile 2 area of Diobu, Port Harcourt.

According to sources, Michael accused Uchenna of stealing his phone during a visit, sparking a heated argument that quickly turned violent.

“Michael insisted that Uchenna had taken his phone, but Uchenna denied the accusation.

“As the situation escalated, Michael reportedly grabbed a jackknife and stabbed him in the stomach,” a source revealed.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Uchenna succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the police later arrested Michael in connection with the incident.

Confirming the arrest on Friday, Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer Grace Iringe-Koko stated, “The suspect has been taken into custody, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further inquiry.”
