Late Merino double secures Arsenal victory at Leicester

Must read

Arsenal snatched a crucial 2-0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, scoring twice in the closing minutes to secure all three points in a tense Premier League encounter.

Mikel Merino was the hero for the Gunners, netting both goals as Arsenal maintained their pursuit of league leaders Liverpool.

The match remained goalless for much of the contest, with Leicester putting up a resilient defensive display.

However, Arsenal’s persistence paid off in the 81st minute when Merino broke the deadlock, finishing off a well-timed assist from Ethan Nwaneri.

The visitors sealed the victory six minutes later as Merino struck again, this time connecting with a pass from Leandro Trossard.

With this hard-fought win, Arsenal remain second in the Premier League standings with 53 points, four behind Liverpool at the top.

Leicester, meanwhile, will be disappointed to have let the game slip away in the final moments as they continue their fight for survival in the Premier League this season.
