Several days after the abduction of retired Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, new information has emerged revealing that the kidnapped retired general is receiving adequate care from his abductors.
This revelation comes to light from hostages who were also kidnapped but freed after paying the bandits the demanded ransom for their release.
The freed hostages also identified notorious bandit leader Babaro as the mastermind behind the kidnapping.
Security analyst Bakatsine, residing in the Northern part of Nigeria, disclosed this information on his X page.
According to sources, Tsiga is being held in Bununu Forest, located in Faskari Local Government Area (LGA), near the border with Ƙankara LGA, both in Katsina State.
The identity of the abductors came to light through testimonies from former hostages and members of the Kandarawa community in Bakori LGA, Katsina State, who were kidnapped by Babaro’s gang on January 14, 2025.
“After paying a ransom of 30 million naira for their release, the freed captives informed their families that they had seen Gen. Tsiga in captivity”, Bakatsine revealed on X.
They noted that while he remained a hostage, he was receiving relatively good treatment, including bottled water and proper care.
Babaro is a feared bandit leader responsible for numerous violent attacks across Ƙankara, Malumfashi, Bakori, Faskari, and Funtua LGAs.
His group has been linked to several high-profile kidnappings in the region.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the new revelation, but security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to track down the criminal and secure the retired brigadier general’s release.
