The Osun State government has unveiled plans to distribute free condoms and lubricants at various malls and lounges across the state as part of efforts to promote safe sex practices on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025.
In a statement released on Thursday, Olusegun Daramola, Executive Secretary of the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), stated that the initiative aims to increase awareness and curb the spread of HIV/AIDS.
“To encourage safer practices, condoms and lubricants will be available at select locations, including malls and lounges. Residents are urged to take advantage of these resources by reaching out to our designated vendors. Let’s celebrate love responsibly and protect our health,” the agency stated.
Daramola further advised against unprotected sex, stressing the importance of taking preventive measures as HIV/AIDS remains a major public health concern.
“It is vital to avoid risky behaviors such as unprotected intercourse. We also encourage those who haven’t been tested to do so and stay informed about their HIV status,” he said.
He reiterated the commitment of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke’s administration to reducing HIV prevalence in Osun State and encouraged collective efforts to achieve the goal of ending AIDS by 2030.
